Live Scan is an electronic method of capturing fingerprints without ink. It allows for instant digital submission to the FBI, state agencies, and other regulatory authorities, reducing errors and turnaround time compared to traditional ink cards.

Yes! Capitol Biometrics is 100% mobile — we come to your home, office, or event anywhere in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. Mobile service fees may apply based on distance and group size.

An EFT (.EFT) file is a digital version of your fingerprints, required for ATF eForm applications (Form 1, Form 4, etc.). We create compliant EFT files ready for upload into the ATF eForm system — no ink cards or mailing required.

Deposit Required (Applied to Total): A booking deposit is required to secure your appointment and will be applied toward your total balance at the time of service. This deposit reserves a dedicated mobile service window for preparation and travel time.

 Non-Refundable (No-Show / Late Reschedule / Incomplete Paperwork): Because Capitol Biometrics is a mobile service, the deposit is non-refundable if:

• You do not appear at the scheduled time/location (no-show)
• You cancel or request changes within 4 hours of your appointment time 
• Required forms, IDs, or paperwork are incomplete/incorrect and services cannot be completed. 

One-Time Reschedule (Must Be ≥ 4 Hours Prior): You may reschedule once and transfer your deposit to a new appointment time only if you contact us at least 4 hours before the scheduled appointment time (subject to availability). Reschedule requests made within 4 hours of the appointment time are treated as a late cancellation/no-show and the deposit is forfeited.

Most sessions take 10–15 minutes per person, including ID verification and quality check. Mobile sessions for groups may take longer depending on volume.

We accept valid government-issued photo IDs, such as:

• Driver’s License
• U.S. Passport
• Military ID

 Processing times vary depending on the submission type:

• FBI Channeling / Identity History Reports: 24–72 hours
• FINRA or SWFT submissions: 1–5 business days 
• ATF eForm uploads: depend on ATF processing queue

Yes. We use FBI Appendix F-certified equipment and authorized Live Scan software to meet the strict compliance standards required by the FBI, ATF, FINRA, and DoD.

We accept credit/debit cards, business checks, and digital payments (Square, Zelle, or PayPal). Group or recurring clients may request invoicing or ACH payment arrangements.

Yes. We offer both digital Live Scan fingerprinting (when accepted by your requesting agency) and traditional ink fingerprinting for cards such as FD-258 or other required formats. We also digitize live paper fingerprint cards into electronic version, we can also print electronic versions into paper cards. Our live scan FBI checks are sent directly to the FBI.

 To reserve your mobile appointment, a non-refundable deposit is required at the booking time and will be credited toward your final balance. The deposit covers scheduling, travel planning, and reserved service time. The deposit is forfeited if:

• You do not appear at the scheduled time/location
• You cancel or attempt to reschedule within 4 hours of the appointment time
• Required forms/ID/paperwork are incomplete or incorrect such that we cannot perform services
   

Rescheduling requests made more than 4 hours before the appointment may transfer the deposit to a new time/date (one transfer, subject to availability).

Yes! We are a mobile service and will meet you at your home, workplace, or another safe location of your choice. Additional travel fees may apply.

Our  Lead Biometric Technician meet you at your location at the scheduled time to perform Live Scan or ink and roll fingerprint capture. We have fingerprint cards (FD-258) if you need them. We can provide printed cards or submit electronically. If you are not available or ready at the time of service, your deposit will be withheld. You may reschedule one time within 4 hours of your appoint.

Background checks for volunteers are typically less comprehensive than those conducted for employees. The turnaround time for a volunteer background check can vary depending on the type of check being conducted, but generally takes between one and three days.

Channeling is the direct electronic submission to the FBI and expedited transmission for an Identity History Summary Check (rap sheet), licenses, background checks, employment. 

Yes — data protection and privacy are our top priority. All biometric information is transmitted using FBI and CJIS-encrypted channels and never stored locally beyond compliance requirements.
